Alternatives are ranked closest match first: the app that shares the most with the one you started from comes top.

What counts as a match

• The jobs the app does (its use cases).
• The platforms it runs on.
• How it is priced.

Every signal shown on an app page is displayed as it was measured, with its own source and checked date. PickInstead does not show a single blended score; where a tie-break between two closely matched apps is needed internally, the formula for it will be published on this page alongside the app pages that use it.

Sponsored placement

A sponsor card, when present, is always labelled and always sits outside the ranked list; it never changes an app's position in the ranking.
